Students at Goodyear Elementary School broke from the norm Friday and enjoyed their lunch outside. The school held Literacy on the Lawn, an event to promote literacy. Students eat lunch with parents, mentors, and other community members, followed by book reading. Parents, mentors, members of the College of Coastal Georgia men’s and women’s basketball teams, CCGA Early Childhood and Special Education students, Rotary Readers, representatives from Glynn Episcopal Ministries and Glynn County Boys and Girls Club enjoyed a lunch provided by Subway, then read books to students, serenaded by music provided by Cedrick Frazier with Frazier Music Entertainment. Each child got to keep the book they read during the event, which was held as part of the Lit-3 districtwide initiative to make sure all students are reading and comprehending on grade level by third grade.
