Frederica Academy could have named its score Friday night at Augusta Prep. The Knights were content to jump out to a big lead early and cruise to a 44-13 road victory.
Quarterback Denver Anthony got the scoring started for Frederica when he connected with Jaiden Rose-Scalley for a touchdown less than three minutes into the game. After the Frederica Academy defense forced a turnover, Jashawn Sheffield ran into the end zone from 18 yards out to push the lead to 14-0.
Isaiah Jackson joined the touchdown parade with a 37-yard touchdown run to make it 21-0 just seven minutes into the game.
Frederica didn’t take long to score in the second quarter, 24 seconds to be exact. Jackson finished off a drive with a 4-yard touchdown run to push the lead to 28-0.
Augusta Prep cracked the scoreboard for the first time, scoring about halfway through the quarter to cut the Knights’ advantage to 28-7. Unfortunately, that meant they had to kick off to Jackson, who returned the kick 75 yards for a touchdown and a 34-7 Frederica lead.
The Knights would get one more score before the half with Anthony tossing a 6-yard touchdown to Sheffield to make it 41-7.
Play moved much faster in the second half thanks to a running clock.
William Brock’s 35-yard field goal was the only Frederica points in the second half. Augusta Prep would add another score in the fourth quarter.
The win pushes Frederica to 3-2 on the season. The Knights will take a week off before hosting Pinewood Christian on Sept. 28.
In Darien, the McIntosh County Academy fell to Jenkins County 28-14.
