The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour’s Mid Season Invitational teed off Sunday at Sea Island Golf Club’s Plantation course with a three-way tie in the boys 16- to 18-year-old division.

St. Simons Island’s Worth Pickens is tied with JD Del Priore of Charlotte, N.C., and Jaden Weisman of Malvern, Pa., after each carded 1-under 71 rounds in the first round. The trio has a one-shot lead over Matthew Soucinek of Lake City, Fla., who carded an even-par 72. Nic Macsuga of West Palm Beach, Fla., is in solo fifth, two shots off the lead.

In the 14-18 girls division, Sarah Edwards of Jay, Fla., was the only player under par with a 1-under 71. Edwards leads the division by four shots over Julia McLaughlin of Princeton, N.J.

Cole Ekert of Chatham, N.J. leads the boys 14-15 division by a shot over Charles Warren of Huntsville, Ala., after a 1-over 73 in the first round. In the boys 11-13 group, Duluth’s Chapman Barnett has a one-shot lead over Luke Powell after starting with a 2-under 70. Jackson Harris of Powell, Ohio, and McKenzie Mages of Marietta lead the Boys Under 10 and Girls Under 13 divisions, respectively.

The three-round tournament continues today.
