Thanks to the Brunswick News for the survey on the “conference center.”

As we all know, downtown Brunswick is dead. I wish that The Brunswick News would run a survey on “how to revive a dead street.” It is no secret that Newcastle Street is dead. The only surviving and thriving business there is Tait’s Lawn Care, and the Newcastle Street parking there is dangerous. That parking should be improved by the city.

Look at St. Augustine and what they did with a dead street. They took vehicular traffic off of it and created an exciting walk.

The Brunswick News should ask for suggestions from local people on what to create there and not spend thousands for another survey from out of town sharks.

Norwich Street is an easy fix. Just bulldoze it and create a shopping mall “with parking.” When we get it right, we should put up a plaque thanking LaRon Bennett for his selfless, “unpaid efforts.” Thank you LaRon!

Fire gutted a vacant house shortly before 11 a.m. Friday, leaving fire crews working hard through noon to extinguish the flames and make sure they did not spread to nearby trees or the neighboring business.

This past week, I received a telephonic Robo Call from someone stating he represented the Glynn County Republican Party. There surely must be a parallel universe with a similar name since that call was nothing but false accusations and lies about ESPLOST 3.
