I am concerned by recent letters condemning Congressman Buddy Carter’s support of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.
Americans cannot afford to lose the benefits of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act that was signed into law. With the new law, in Georgia, the average taxpayer is going to see more than a $2,000 increase in their paycheck. This is important for Americans who are trying to raise children, save for a college education or simply save for a vacation.
We can spend our own money much better than the government, especially since so much is siphoned to places like New York, Los Angeles, or Chicago.
There is no question that, if Democrats gained control of Congress, the tax savings we have made through the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act would go away. Actually, we know this because Congressional Democrats have already released a plan that would raise taxes if they were given control of the House and Senate after the 2018 midterms.
According to Forbes, this plan increases individual and corporate rates, brings back the alternative minimum tax for four million families, and returns the ‘death tax’ that endangers Americans’ farms which have already lost a significant portion of their income.
This is frankly class-warfare by the Democrats. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act passed into law by Republicans lowers taxes for Americans of every income group along with both large and small businesses. I thank Buddy Carter for supporting it, and I’m glad to have him representing me in Washington.
