If you are interested in visiting a third-world country, you no longer need to leave St. Simons Island thanks to our Glynn County Board of Commissioners.

They have approved a development against the recommendation of the Joint Water and Sewer Commission and the Island Planning Commission to the point that you can smell raw sewage at many locations on the island — Frederica Road and Sea Island Road, East Beach Causeway and Demere, and Frederica Road at North Harrington to name a few.

Will the commissioners wait until raw sewage is flowing in the streets before a moratorium is placed on development? If so, welcome to the Banana Republic of St. Simons Island.

Fire gutted a vacant house shortly before 11 a.m. Friday, leaving fire crews working hard through noon to extinguish the flames and make sure they did not spread to nearby trees or the neighboring business.

This past week, I received a telephonic Robo Call from someone stating he represented the Glynn County Republican Party. There surely must be a parallel universe with a similar name since that call was nothing but false accusations and lies about ESPLOST 3.
