Your Nov. 10 newspaper about the conference center project is very correct. There is no major hotel nearby, so if there is any sort of major event those visiting the center would have to drive off to find a nice hotel.

The downtown area also doesn’t have enough restaurants to feed a large group of people. Then there would be a big burden on our local police department. Should the center need extra security for a major venue, the police department would be hard pressed to provide security. Overall, it’s a bad idea for the city.

The city should be looking for ways to clean up the downtown area in order to bring in more businesses. Maybe then a major hotel would think about building a nice hotel and maybe plans could then be looked at to see about a center.

There has to be some sort of support and services to support such a big project. Think twice about it or maybe those who are pushing it may be voted out of office for the wasteful manner of spending tax payers money.

Fire gutted a vacant house shortly before 11 a.m. Friday, leaving fire crews working hard through noon to extinguish the flames and make sure they did not spread to nearby trees or the neighboring business.

This past week, I received a telephonic Robo Call from someone stating he represented the Glynn County Republican Party. There surely must be a parallel universe with a similar name since that call was nothing but false accusations and lies about ESPLOST 3.
