Robert “Bobby” Michels, 59, died Dec. 1, 2018, in Brunswick, Ga., following a brief illness.

Bobby is survived by his son, Teddy; daughter-in-law Kallie; granddaughter, Rowyn; ex-wife, Laurie Cate; and his brothers and sisters, Cindy Frazier, Ann Bowers, Greg Michels, Debby Michels, Gary Michels, Karen Couch, Eddie Michels, Rita Barrow and Sheila Manning.

He is preceded in death by his parents, TJ and Nancy Michels; and his brothers, Tommy and Ricky Michels.

Bobby was born in Sanford, Fla., on Oct. 19, 1959. He graduated from Glynn Academy in 1978.

As a carpenter, Bobby carried on the trade of his father, TJ, and his grandfather, Anton. In his craft, Bobby was known for his artistry and uncompromising pursuit of the highest quality workmanship. His legacy remains in the homes and the lives of the people with whom he worked.

As a father and grandfather, Bobby had an incomparable ability to make any child feel like the center of the world. He had boundless compassion and generosity of spirit, and he always made his granddaughter smile.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, or the St. Vincent DePaul Society, 1217 Newcastle St., Brunswick, GA 31520.

A memorial gathering of family and friends will be held at Mill Dam Recreation Area, Ocala National Forest, Fla., on Sunday, Dec. 16. Please contact the family for more details.
