Linda White Crandall, 64, passed away on Friday, Nov. 9, 2018, at home.

Linda was born on July 30, 1954, in Flint, Mich., to the late Robert “Bob” and Georgene Pittsley White.

She spent her early years there before moving to Marquette, Mich., where she attended Northern Michigan University and was recipient of a bachelor’s degree. She began her career as a medical technologist, eventually relocating to Atlanta, Ga., where she worked for Emory University Medical Center, American Red Cross and St. Joseph’s Hospital of Atlanta processing blood work and preparing blood to help provide care to patients in need. Linda’s work ethic and strong desire to learn led her back to college for a second time later in life, where she studied computer networking at DeVry University and spent several years working for Sprint using her second degree.

She worked two jobs for several years to put her daughter through school at Emory University. She felt strongly about education, and wanted to provide her daughter the best opportunity to follow her dreams to become a physician, at the sacrifice of her own. In 2014, once Linda learned she was having a grandson, she retired to Jesup to help care for her first grandson, Zander Crandall. Later, she moved to Brunswick to continue to be near her beloved grandchildren, which expanded to two, one year ago with the birth of Jaxson Crandall. She enjoyed reading, knitting, birdwatching, creating her butterfly garden, traveling, cooking and playing computer games in her spare time. She had just returned from a cruise to Alaska, a lifelong goal of hers where she watched whales in the wild, saw huge deep blue glaciers and even caught a halibut as tall as her. However, her favorite times were spent with her family and grandchildren whom she truly adored. Her happiest moments were when she was in the company of her two grandsons, Zander and Jaxson. Or as she called them, “Zax.”

In addition to her parents, her two brothers, Richard and Don White, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her daughter, Dr. Elizabeth “Lisa” Crandall and husband, Justin, of Jesup and Brunswick; two brothers, Doug White of Battle Creek, Mich., and Bob White and wife, Kathleen, of Hereford, Ariz.; two grandsons, Zander and Jax Crandall; and ex-husband and lifelong friend, Norman Crandall and wife, Carolyn Brown, of Atlanta.

The memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2018, at Howard & Jones Funeral Home, in Jesup, with the Rev. Stanley Todd officiating.
