Mrs. Judith Faye Whorton Boswell, 77, of Sandtown Road in Washington, passed away Monday, September 17, 2018, at University Hospital in Augusta.
Mrs. Boswell was born in Brunswick, Ga., on June 18, 1941, to Howard and Lois Whorton. She graduated from Glynn Academy in 1959 and attended the University of Georgia, graduating in 1964 with a Bachelors-in-Education. She married Terry, her husband of 54 years on September 12, 1964. Initially she taught in public schools in Georgia and Florida, but Terry’s Air Force career took them to numerous stateside locations, as well as a tour in Holland. During this time, she earned her Private Pilot’s license and led a Cub Scout Pack. She was Terry’s invaluable assistant, adding grace and charm to all she encountered. She completed her Masters in Geography from Arkansas in 1992. They next settled in Oklahoma before spending four years in Singapore, where she was the Clerk for International Baptist Church and a local tour guide. While there she was accredited as an instructor for English as a Spoken Language (ESL). In 2010, she moved to Washington, Ga., where she quickly became active in her church (First Baptist Church) teaching Sunday School, administering their benevolence program and an ESL program. She also joined local clubs as she enjoyed flowers and gardening. To meet Judy was to be drawn into her circle of warm friends with loving support.
She is survived by her husband, Edward Terry Boswell, of Washington; two sons, William Hamlin Boswell II, and wife Tami and their children, Adeline and William, of Woodstock, and Keith Lewis Boswell, of Bonaire.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, September 21, 2018, at the Washington First Baptist Church. Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:30 p.m. at Hopkins Funeral Home just prior to the memorial service at 3 p.m.
