John Ward Phelps, of St. Simons Island, Ga., passed away at his residence on Nov. 5, 2018, from hypertensive cardiac disease.

John was active with the Mozart Society and Glynn Arts and loved walking in town or along the shoreline feeding the seagulls. Throughout his life, he enjoyed playing the piano, painting, writing, stock investing and donating to charities.

He worked most of his professional life on Wall Street, in New York City, before retiring to St. Simons.

His late mother, Kay Phelps and late brother, Tom Phelps also lived in the area. John was also preceded in death by a sister, Julie Mathiesen. Left to cherish John’s memories are his sister, Kathy Delf; and numerous nieces and nephews. John had many friends in the area. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Sara Townsell Wilson died on Dec. 8, 2018, at GraceMore Nursing and Rehabilitation Center due to complications from multiple system atrophy. She was a Halloween baby and had just turned 75.
