Jack Julius Sullivan, 94, of Brunswick, Ga., entered peacefully into eternal rest Monday, Dec. 3, 2018, at Southeast Georgia Health System.
Jack was born Nov. 23, 1924, in Appling County, Ga., the son of the late William B. Sullivan and the late Malviney “Viney” Moody Sullivan. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Martha Moore Sullivan; a daughter, Edna Sullivan; a sister, Helen Sullivan Varnedoe; and his brother, William B. Sullivan Jr.
Jack served his country proudly in the United States Army and was a World War II veteran. After his honorable discharge, he moved to Brunswick, Ga., and married the love of his life, Martha Moore. He was a retired builder’s consultant with Georgia Natural Gas after 38 years of faithful employment. Jack also was a member of the Lions Club. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend to many.
Left to cherish Jack’s memories are his two daughters, Patricia “Patti” Moxley (Danny) and Julie Sullivan, both of Brunswick, Ga.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and a special niece, Greta Varnedoe Turner. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive him.
Jack enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed planting a large vegetable garden. He took pride in sharing his vegetables with his friends and neighbors. He enjoyed sports and was a football and tennis fan. He also liked to read his newspaper and travel. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. His family and friends will have many fond memories to cherish for years to come.
The family will receive friends between 1-2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018, at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. A funeral service to honor his life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018, in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. The burial, with military honors, will follow the service in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
