David Bowens Sr., formerly of Ardoch, died in Miami, Fla.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mark A.M.E. Church, with burial to follow in Ebenezer Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church.

The viewing will be from 1-7 p.m. Friday at Darien Funeral Home.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Bowens; children, Anthony (Zelta) Jones and David Bowens Jr.; four grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Israel Lambert, Jeanette Bowers, Clara Gibson and Eldora Bacon; and other relatives.

Born and educated in McIntosh County, he was a member of Mt. Hermon A.M.E. Church, where he served as an usher. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and retired from the City of Miami Beach as a mechanic.

Darien Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
