Utility to discuss improving safety at Academy Creek plant

Improving safety at the Academy Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant is on the Brunswick-Glynn County Joint Water and Sewer Commission’s Thursday meeting agenda.

Commissioners have previously talked about improving the safety of workers using the oxygen system at Academy Creek, which facilitates the sewage treatment process. It is one of many improvements proposed for the plant.

The commission is also expected to hear an update on sewage flow to the utility’s three plants and to consider awarding a contract for auditing services.

The meeting is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.,Thursday, in the utility’s office, 1703 Gloucester St. in Brunswick.
