Rep. Carter supports arming recruiters

U.S. Rep. Buddy Carter, R-1, says he is a co-sponsor of the Enhanced Safety at Military Installations Act.

The act would allow military personnel with firearms training to carry firearms on military bases and other installations, including recruitment centers.

The bill follows the recent slayings of recruiters by a gunman in Chattanooga, Tenn.

“We cannot continue to allow the brave men and women who defend our nation to be sitting ducks here at home,” Carter said. “Military personnel must be armed and able to defend themselves at all times.”
