The Kingsland mayor’s race is headed to a runoff after longtime incumbent Kenneth Smith Sr. failed to get more than 50 percent of the vote in a four-candidate race.

Grayson Day Jr. received 2,075 votes, or 42 percent, followed by Smith with 1,219 votes, or 25 percent. Jim McClain received 1,126 votes or 23 percent and James Ham Jr. received 514 votes or 10 percent. Day and Smith will face each other in a Dec. 4 runoff.

Alex Blount won the District 4 Kingsland City Council race with 3,361 votes or 75 percent, beating Gary Faraon with 1,045 votes or 24 percent.

In St. Marys, the Post 1 race was won by Artie Jones Jr. with 3,482 votes or 76 percent over Wiley Kings with 1,045 votes or 23 percent. Jim Goodman won the Post 2 race with 3,128 votes or 59 percent, defeating incumbent Elaine Powierski with 2,139 votes or 40 percent.

The Post 3 race in St. Marys was won by incumbent Jim Gant with 3,157 votes or 70 percent over Jay Moreno, with 1,301 votes or 29 percent.

Voters in Woodbine approved Sunday alcohol sales with 228 votes or 59 percent.
