The cover of the March/April edition of Golden Isles Magazine was awarded during the Georgia Press Association banquet Friday.

Golden Isles Magazine is the best magazine in the state produced by daily newspapers, according to judges for the annual Georgia Press Association Better Newspapers Contest.

The magazine brought home three awards from the awards banquet on Friday, including a first-place plaque in the magazine product category, a competition that included all daily newspapers in the state, regardless of size.

Golden Isles Magazine also was awarded second place prizes in the magazine photography and magazine cover categories.

"It's an honor to receive these awards and to be recognized for all the stellar work our writers, photographers and designers do in each issue," said Bethany Leggett, the magazine's editor.

Golden Isles Magazine is no stranger to awards. In October 2017, the publication secured its second Folio award in as many years in New York City. Last year's award was given for best use of illustration. The previous year's Folio Eddie & Ozzie award was an editorial award for a series of articles. The magazine was also given five honorable mentions in the past three years.

Folio is a publication focusing on the magazine industry and gives out the Eddie & Ozzie Awards every year.
