A man convicted on all counts in a child molestation case Thursday received a life sentence Tuesday in Glynn County Superior Court.

Leonard B. Palmitesto, 62, was convicted of five counts of child molestation, three counts of sexual battery against a child younger than 16 and one count of aggravated child molestation for acts committed against the then 13-year-old daughter of his girlfriend in July and August 2016. The girl also has cerebral palsy.

Palmitesto was tried on the same charges in May, but the jury was unable to reach a verdict. He also served more than 13 years in state prison for a 1997 conviction in which he — then a resident of Inverness, Fla. — hit the road with a 14-year-old girl with whom he was sexually involved. Law enforcement arrested Palmitesto on that charge after his car was broken into on St. Simons Island.

The life sentence means he has to serve a minimum of 30 years in prison before being considered for parole.
