Golden Isles Wellness Weekend will be held from Feb. 1 to 3 at the King and Prince Resort on St. Simons Island. There will be a variety of workshops and classes throughout the weekend, touching on a number of health-related topics. The Southeast Georgia Health System recently welcomed Jo Lucke, CNHA, FACHCA, as the new administrator for the Senior Care Center in Brunswick. Lucke was appointed administrator of the Health System’s Senior Care Center-Brunswick after an 18-month interim appointment. Prior to joining the health system, she served six years as the administrator for Ethica Health and Retirement Communities.
Lucke currently serves as the president of Georgia Chapter of the American College of Health Care Administrators (ACHCA) and on the National ACHCA Sub-Committee for Fellow Advancement. She is an active leader for Georgia’s Region J Healthcare Coalition serving on the executive committee and as the coordinator for skilled nursing facilities. Lucke was awarded the Georgia ACHCA 2013 Administrator of the Year, Georgia Health Care Association (GHCA) 2014 Leadership in Innovation Award and 2015 GHCA Leader in Public Confidence. She currently serves on GHCA’s Membership Services and Emergency Preparedness Committees.
Lunch and learn planned for Jan. 30
The Southeast Georgia Health System and the Golden Isles YMCA will host a Lunch and Learn For Your Health featuring Glenn Gann, R.N., MSN, director of the Emergency Care Center in Brunswick. He will present a program titled, “Emergency Room vs. Immediate Care: Services, Costs & Wait Times.”
It will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Jan. 30 at the Golden Isles YMCA, 144 Scranton Connector, Brunswick. Seating is limited and pre-registration is required by calling the YMCA at 912-265-4100. A YMCA membership is not required to attend; the Lunch and Learn is open to the public, and lunch will be provided by Olive Garden at no charge to attendees.
VFW’s health fair to be held in Jesup
Jesup VFW Post 4583 will host a community behavioral health and wellness resource fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 2. It is free and open to the public. The resource fair will feature a variety of organizations, including Coastal Pines Technical College, local Behavioral Health organizations, veterans organizations, employment staffing agencies, the Crossed Oars Society and Warriors Pointe Inc.
