College of Coastal Georgia students and community kids rock with STEM

Submitted by Tiffany King

College of Coastal Georgia students and children on St. Simons Island attended the “Rocking STEM Day” event held at the St. Simons Library June 28. The day of activities was hosted by Coastal Georgia students and faculty member Elizabeth Brabson, lecturer of geology, as part of the Marshes of Glynn Libraries’ Reading Rocks Summer Program. Local children visited different activity stations where they learned about momentum, sound, phases of matter, chemical reactions, and the mechanics of building a mini catapult from popsicle sticks and rubber bands.
