Hofwyl-Broadfield Plantation will host its Ghosts and Legends tour from 10 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Jan. 1 at the historic site, 5556 US Hwy. 17, Brunswick. The cost is $15.

Thursday, Jan. 3

The 43rd Annual Bluegrass Festival will begin at noon Jan. 3 and continue to 10 p.m. Jan. 5. It will be held at the Jekyll Island Convention Center on Jekyll Island. A variety of acts will perform. For more information and tickets, visit adamsbluegrass.com.

St. Marys Little Theatre will hold open auditions for “Midnight Train to Georgia,” a tribute to Black History Month, at 6 pm at Theatre by the Trax in St. Marys. Performances will be held at 7 p.m. Feb. 15 and 16 and at 2 p.m. Feb. 17 at the Theatre by the Trax.

Friday, Jan. 4

The Island Players will stage its production, “A Comedy of Tenors,” Jan. 4 to 6; Jan. 11 to 13 and Jan. 18 to 20 at the Casino on St. Simons Island. Performances Friday to Saturday will be held at 7:30 p.m. nightly with a 3 p.m. Sunday matinee performance. Adult tickets are $20. First Friday, a block party in downtown Brunswick, will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. in the shops and restaurants along Newcastle St. There will be discounts, samples and entertainment. It is sponsored by the Downtown Development Authority.

Coastal Wildscapes will host its 2019 Photo Contest Exhibit at the Ritz Theatre with the opening being held from 5 to 8 p.m. at 1530 Newcastle St., Brunswick. The event is being held as a part of the First Friday activities.

Saturday, Jan. 5

The Annual Polar Plunge, hosted by the Glynn County Parks and Recreation Department, will be held at noon at the Neptune Park Fun Zone Pool at Neptune Park on St. Simons Island. Gates will open at 11:30 a.m. Hot chocolate and warm showers will be available afterward. It is free and open to all.

Sunday, Jan. 6

The Jekyll Arts Association will host an opening for its new exhibit which will feature works of painter Robin Garrison as well as potters Norm and Lesley Hughes and Paul Christian. An artists’ reception, which is free and open to the public, will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. at Goodyear Cottage on Jekyll Island. They will be available for viewing at the Goodyear Cottage on Jekyll Island through Jan. 31.

Monday, Jan. 7

The Golden Isles Fiberarts guild will hold its monthly meeting at 3 p.m. in the Parish Hall of the Holy Nativity Church, 615 Mallery St., St. Simons Island. The program will feature the Garment Girlz group, presenting a variety of their newest fashions. There will be a preview of items to be included in the biennial fashion show scheduled for the SoGlo gallery on Feb. 1, during the First Friday events. Visitors and prospective members are welcome.

Wednesday, Jan. 9

The Literary Guild of St. Simons Island will present “War of Buttons,” a French film, as part of its film series. It will be screened at 7 p.m. at the Casino Theater on St. Simons Island. It is rated PG-13. A $3 donation is requested.
