Jennifer Krouse had a hard time wiping the smile off her face Tuesday after Hollywood came to town and interrupted her day.
Ben Affleck, who starred and directed “Argo” and most recently was in “Gone Girl,” was in downtown Brunswick scouting a location for an upcoming film when Krouse just happened upon his path and shook his hand.
“It was pretty exciting,” Krouse said. “I mean, this is Ben Affleck.”
Passersby and downtown business owners clamored to the city streets to catch a view of the Hollywood superstar, who said he was looking for an ideal Southern spot for his film, “Live By Night,” which is based on a crime novel by Dennis Lahane and is set in Boston during the Roaring ’20s.
Affleck was in the area last summer with the goal of scouting out a location for the same film.
“I am looking between Savannah and the end of the Georgia coast, and this area has always been so hospitable to me,” Affleck said. “This is certainly a charming town and everyone has been very accommodating.”
Is that a “yes” for filming in Brunswick?
“We haven’t made a final decision, but Brunswick is in the running,” he sad. “I’m very impressed with this town.”
Jenna Hollington, a senior at Glynn Academy, just happened to be eating lunch downtown when Affleck made an appearance.
Posing with Affleck at the corner of Newscastle and Mansfield streets, Hollington got a quick photo of herself with the star, marking one of her now favorite moments.
“This is just great,” Hollington said. “I was just having lunch, and now I can say I have met Ben Affleck. Wow.”
