Region 2-6A champion Glynn Academy has continued its winning ways with three straight victories as the season comes to a close.

The Red Terrors took Game 1 in the three-game series against Statesboro 11-6 Monday night.

Trailing 6-5 in the top of the fifth inning, the Red Terrors rallied to score six runs and shut out Statesboro for the remaining three frames.

Jeremy Altman pitched 4.2 innings of relief for Glynn Academy, allowing one earned run on five hits and no walks.

Randon Jernigan and Will Bowdoin each tallied three hits for the Terrors, including a double for Bowdoin. Matt Rivers, Hunter Hall and Bo Pierce chalked up two hits, and Pierce drove in two runs.

Glynn Academy will host Game 2 on Wednesday at Edo Miller Field.


Frederica Academy dispatched region opponent Bulloch Academy 8-4 in Statesboro on Tuesday.

The Knights led 3-2 after the first inning and added to its total with two runs in the second and three runs in the fourth.

The Knights continue to bash home runs. Cameron Gardner homered in the first inning, followed by Nic Dixon in the second and JT Whaley in the fourth. Gardner drove in four runs on two hits.

Frederica starter Trey Thompson allowed one earned run through six innings and struck out six batters. Eric McCall closed out the game with a strikeout in one inning of work.

The Knights will travel to Folkston to play Charlton County on Thursday.


Two Frederica Academy singles players and one doubles pairing advanced to the second round of the GISA State Tennis Tournament, before losing.

Maggie Holt topped Atlanta Girls School’s Alley Render 4-6, 6-2, 7-5 in Round 1. Holt rallied after falling behind 0-5 in the final set. Valwood’s Hannah Lindsey eliminated her in the second round, 7-6, 6-2.

Alastair Cambell, last year’s runner-up, swept Scott Jackson from Holy Spirit 6-0, 6-0, and fell to Deerfield Windsor’s Jack Thompson 7-5, 4-6, 6-3.

Charlie Morton and Chris Osgood beat Heritage duo Connor Ellison and Michael Griffin, 7-5, 6-1, and fell in Round 2 6-2, 6-2 to Sullivan and Alden Anderson of Brookwood 6-2, 6-2.


The Pirates run to the state tournament ended when Tucker High School swept the boys and girls squads 3-0 Monday night.


The Glynn Middle School golf team won its match at Crosswinds Golf Club in Savannah on Monday.

Glynn Middle School shot 159 as a team, topping Frederica Academy with 173 and Savannah Country Day with 186. Trey Pralinski led with a nine-hole score of 38, followed by Carson Stroud’s 39, Maddox Stroud’s 41 and Stewart Gash with 41.
