A state title is just three wins away for the Glynn County 10U baseball team after picking up three wins Thursday at John Milner Sports Complex in East Point.

Glynn plays Liberty County at 10 a.m. today in the losers bracket final. If Glynn bets Liberty, it would then have to beat winners bracket finalist Lyons twice to win the state title.

The squad’s run in the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association state tournament is starting to resemble the team’s run to a district championship in June. The 10Us won their district tournament by winning seven straight games after dropping its first game of the tournament.

That scenario has also held true so far in East Point.

Glynn lost its first game 1-0 to Lyons, and bounced back with a win Wednesday to stay alive in the losers bracket. They followed it up with three more wins in dominant fashion Thursday.

Glynn defeated Thomson 13-1 in its first game Thursday and followed that up with a 19-1 victory over Mitchell County.

That set up Glynn’s third game of the day against Vidalia, with the local squad winning 15-3 to advance to today’s game against Liberty, who lost 11-3 to Lyons in the winners bracket final.

If Glynn beats Liberty, the finals against Lyons would start at noon with another game slated for 2 p.m. if Glynn wins the first game.
