College of Coastal Georgia golf moved up to second in the Southern States Athletic Conference tournament standings, now eight strokes behind leader Dalton State heading into the final day of action.

The Mariners combined for 286, second-lowest to Dalton State’s 278. Lauri Hacklin led the group with 2-under 69, followed by Paxton Shuman with 1-under 70. Seth Sanders finished the back nine even to finish the round 1-over 72.

Shuman holds sole possession of third place on the individual leaderboard at 140 for the tournament.

Two Dalton State players are in front of him, including S.M. Lee at 138 and P.J. Shields at 135.

At Monday night’s conference awards banquet, Paxton Shuman, Seth Sanders, Lauri Hacklin and Eamon Owen were named to the all-conference team by SSAC coaches.

Hacklin and Owen were recognized as members of the SSAC All-Academic Team, and Owen was recognized as the team’s Champions of Character award recipient.
