McIntosh County Academy snapped a four-game losing streak Friday, defeating Region 3-A foe Portal 38-13 in Darien.

Four different Bucs had touchdowns in the game while the McIntosh defense pitched a shutout for most of the game.

“We came out tonight and played fast,” said MCA head coach Terel Toomer. “We made some offensive changes, came out and played fast offensively. The defense got the offense the ball back early, and we were able to put together long, sustained drives. Our kids answered the call tonight.”

The Bucs yielded a kickoff return and a score late in the game to give Portal its points.

The win evens McIntosh’s region record at 1-1 and makes them 2-3 overall this season.

Toomer is hopeful the Bucs can build off Friday’s big win.

“Despite who we played and how good or how bad we thought they were, we did what we were supposed to do tonight and executed on our end,” Toomer said.
