5280 U.S. Highway 341: Two police officers were nearby when they heard a loud crash in the parking lot of the Super 8 Motel. The person responsible drove away. Police caught the driver, who went to jail for leaving the scene of a crash.

300 block of Highway 303: Police responded to a crash in front of the Golden Isles RV Park. The man driving a vehicle that was involved in the accident wound up going to jail for possession of drug-related objects.

5514 Frederica Road: A crash occurred in the parking lot of Bennie’s Red Barn and one of those involved drove away. Police later made an arrest.

200 Mall Blvd.: A security guard at the Belk store caught a man stealing a package of socks, valued at $14. Police arrived and took the man to jail, charged with shoplifting.

L and Stonewall streets: Police made a traffic stop and arrested the driver on an outstanding warrant. Once they got him to the county jail, guards found he also was carrying dope, so they added a possession of drug charge before putting him behind bars.

1800 block of L Street: A man in a ski mask was hanging around a business that was closed, raising the suspicion of a concerned citizen. Police checked it out and discovered the man in question had an outstanding arrest warrant.

Smash and Grab

3319 U.S. Highway 17: A thief busted the glass on the south door, broke and stole “select items,” police said. Police are investigating.

Police Assist

1000 block of Johnston Street: A male called police on his mother because she would not go fishing with him. Not only that, the male said, she would not give him money or even a ride to the bait shop. Police arrived and got him to settle down.
