Emanuel Missionary Baptist Church, 1047 Demere Road, St. Simons Island, will observe its 64th Homecoming at 7:30 p.m. nightly Wednesday to Friday with guest churches in charge. It will culminate at 11 a.m. Oct. 15 with the Rev. Alfreda Stevens as guest speaker.

Epworth by the Sea, 100 Arthur J. Moore Drive, St. Simons Island, will host retired Methodist minister and Wesley Scholar, the Rev. Dave Hanson’s program, “Walk With Wesley” from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursdays in the Moore Methodist Museum. Hanson will take an in-depth look at the lives of John and Charles Wesley while they were on St. Simons Island in 1736. Free to the public.

First Bryant Baptist Church, 1110 F St., Brunswick, will celebrate its 139th church anniversary at 7:30 p.m. nightly Monday to Wednesday. Several guest speakers will be on hand. There will be a final celebration at 11 a.m. Oct. 15 with the Rev. D.E. Mithcell and the First African Missionary Baptist Church family in attendance.

First African Baptist Church, 1416 Amherst St., Brunswick, will host a Pre-Women’s Day Brunch at 11 a.m. Oct. 14 at the church annex. First Lady Tracie Campbell from Zion Baptist Church will be the guest speaker. The celebration will continue at 11 a.m. Oct. 15 with the worship service.

First African Baptist Church, 5800 Frederica Road, St. Simons Island, will host a Gospel Praise and Prayer benefiting the victims of Hurricane Harvey at 4 p.m. Sunday at the church. Choirs, musicians and vocalists will perform and donations will be taken for the American Red Cross.

First African Baptist, 1416 Amherst St., Brunswick, will host a Women’s Day service at 11 a.m. Oct. 15. The guest speaker LaVerne Cooper of Abyssinia Baptist Church in Brunswick.

First Friendship Baptist Church, 1010 Lee St., Brunswick, will host its pastor’s second anniversary celebration for the Rev. Steven A. Wise Sr. at 11 a.m. Sunday. The speaker will be Deacon Gregory Lattany. The Rev. Dr. Leon Washington and the congregation of Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church of Kingsland will be guests at the 4 p.m. worship service.

Greater Hall Temple Church of God in Christm 3226 Norwich St., Brunswick, will celebrate its pastor’s 44th anniversary at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday. It will continue at 3 p.m. Oct. 15. Various guests and speakers will be on hand.

Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 3425 Martin Luther King Blvd., Brunswick, will hold its annual Dual Day service at 4 p.m. Sunday at the church. The speaker will be the Rev. Barbara Bradshaw, pastor of Renewal Resurrection Church in Douglas. Special music will be presented by the Rev. Buddy Williams and his group. Lunch will be served following the service.

St. Andrews Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, 2101 Albany St., Brunswick, will host Paine College Awareness Day at 11 a.m. Oct. 29. The guest speaker will be Michael Thurmond, chief executive officer of DeKalb County. Representatives of the college will also be on hand.

St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 1120 Newcastle St., Brunswick, hosts its nondenominational crafters guild from 6-9 p.m. Tuesdays in the St. Joseph Room in the church parish hall. No fees. Everyone is welcome. All types of crafts and ideas area shared. The guild provides hats for preemies and cancer patients, along with leg warmers and lap rugs for nursing homes. Details: 265-6816.

St. James M.B. Church, 1505 F St., Brunswick, will celebrate its annual Women’s Day at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the church. The speaker will be the Rev. Annie Wrice.

Springfield Missionary Baptist Church, 676 Myers Hill Road, Brunswick, will celebrate its choir anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday. The speaker for the occasion will be the Rev. Todd Rhodes of Shiloh Baptist Church.


Holly Band Inspirational Church, 2401 Norwich St., Brunswick, will host a gospel program in honor of Deacon Buddy Williams at 6 p.m. at the church Sunday.
