Friday, July 14

North End Tour of Sapelo Island, presented by Sapelo Island National Estuarine Research Reserve and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, will be from 8:30 a.m. to noon. The tour will feature the Native American shell ring and Chocolate Plantation. Tickets are $15 for adults, ages 13 and up and $10 for children ages 6-12, and can be purchased at the Sapelo Island Visitors Center. Summer Classic Film Festival, featuring classic films that give a nod to Alfred Hitchcock and his favorite leading lady, Grace Kelly, will be today through Sunday at the Ritz Theatre, 1530 Newcastle St., Brunswick. “Dial M for Murder” will be shown at 7:30 p.m. today, preceded by a film talk at 6:30 p.m. At 4 p.m. Saturday, “High Anxiety,” a Hitchcock parody directed by Mel Brooks, will be shown. At 7 p.m. Saturday, “Rear Window” will be screened, and beginning at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, a short documentary on costume designer Edith Head will be shown, and refreshments will be served, prior to the final film in the festival, “To Catch a Thief.” A weekend pass. Saturday, July 15

Brunswick Farmers Market, hosted by Slow Food Georgia and Golden Isles Arts & Humanities, will be from 8 a.m. to noon at Mary Ross Waterfront Park, Brunswick. The expanded market will feature local makers and farmers.

Birds of Prey Lunch and Learn will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Unitarian Universalists of Coastal Georgia, 1710 Gloucester St., Brunswick. Russ Franklin, who has degrees in math, physics and literature, and currently teaches writing at Florida State University in Tallahassee, will speak about his book, “Cosmic Hotel,” at 10:30 a.m. in Room 108 of the St. Simons Casino, 530 Beachview Drive, as part of the “Coffee With the Author” series presented by the Literary Guild of St. Simons Island.
