The Island Players will stage their production “Smoky Joe’s Cafe,” a musical revue showcasing 39 pop songs by various cast members. The play is directed and choreographed by Gail Butler. It will be staged at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 12, 13, 14, 19, 20 and 21. It will be staged at 3 p.m. Oct. 15 and 22. All shows will be held at the St. Simons Island Casino.

Coast Guard Beach Park Master Plan Committee will host the first of two workshops focusing on the new master plan for Coast Guard Beach Park on St. Simons Island. Friday, Oct. 13

The Food Truck Oktoberfest will be held from 3:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Mary Ross Waterfront Park in downtown Brunswick. Several food trucks and vendors will be on hand, following the event, live music will be held in Jekyll Sqaure on Newcastle Street in Brunswick.

Saturday, Oct. 14

Coastal Georgia Audubon Society will lead a field trip from 8 a.m. to noon at the Altamaha Wildlife Management Area. Participants should meet at the old dairy barn parking area across from the main WMA headquarters on US 17 just south of Darien. Bird watchers should wear appropriate clothing, bring bug spray and water. The trip is free and anyone who is interested is welcome to take part. Sunday, Oct. 15

Sounds by the Sea, presented by the Golden Isles Arts and Humanities Association, will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at Neptune Park on St. Simons Island. Michael Hulett will perform. The event is a performance rescheduled due to Hurricane Irma. Attendees should bring a picnic dinner, lawn chair or blanket.

Tuesday, Oct. 17

The Coastal Georgia Genealogical Society and the St. Simons Public Library will host “Finding the Females in Your Family Tree,” a video presentation, at 11 a.m. at the St. Simons Island Casino, Room 108, 550 Beachview Drive, St. Simons Island. It is free and open to the public.

Coastal Georgia Audubon Society will meet at 7 p.m at the Seafarer’s Center, 307 Norwich Street in Brunswick. Eamon Leonard of the DNR will speak about “Invasive Plant Species”. The Friends of Historic Jekyll Island will sponsor a presentation entitled “Revitalization of the Jekyll Island Museum — Update,” by Bruce Piatek, director of historic resources for the Jekyll Island Authority at 6:30 p.m. in the Mission Parlor of the Jekyll Presbyterian Community Church, 475 N. The American Cancer Society 2017 Breast Cancer Fashion Show and Luncheon will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Sea Palms Golf and Tennis Resort on St. Simons Island. Glynn Environmental Coalition will hold its Commotion by the Ocean from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Morningstar Marina, St. Simons Island. There will be an open period for members to speak on issues. The St. Marys Express will hold haunted train rides from Oct. 21 and Oct. 28. Trot the Block in Her Shoes, an event supporting Glynn Community Crisis Center, will be held at 10 a.m. Oct. 21 at Belk in Glynn Place Mall in Brunswick. Friday, Oct. 27

The St. Marys Downtown Merchants Association (DMA) and St. Marys Little Theatre will host its 9th Annual Haunted History Tour. This year’s line-up of haunting storytellers are stationed in period costume around eight venues in downtown St. Marys. Storytellers will begin at 6 p.m. at various locations outlined on a map. A Game Day, benefiting the Philanthropic Educational Organization’s International projects, will be held from 1:30-4 p.m. at Marsh’s Edge.
