The Golden Isles Rotary had a surprise last week for a very special friend of the club. Yaritza Rivera, “Ya-Ya,” who makes the breakfast club’s omelets, was honored in a presentation to MAP International for Puerto Rico hurricane relief. Rivera is a native of Puerto Rico and has family members there who, like many Puerto Ricans, have been severely affected by this year’s cyclones, especially Hurricane Maria. Jason Elliott of MAP International accepted the check in her honor.

Jason shared information about the work MAP is doing in Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands in response to Hurricane Maria. To date, MAP has shipped over $3.2M in medicines and health supplies to the islands, treating as many as 276,000 people.
