Golden Isles Arts & Humanities is proud to administer two writing awards sponsored by the Price-Blackburn Foundation: The Young Playwrights and Young Poets Awards. These awards encourage and recognize the literary talents of all public and private middle and high school students in Glynn County. The Price-Blackburn Foundation’s primary work is the continuation of the literary legacy of Eugenia Price and Joyce Blackburn which includes fifty-seven titles that have enriched the lives of millions of readers. Proceeds from the foundation are used for a variety of artistic, humanitarian, and preservation efforts.
Young Playwrights Award
Annual playwriting competition open to all Glynn county middle school students (public and private). Through early November, free workshops are offered to all middle schools to review story structure, adapting narratives, and introduce students to basic playwriting. The deadline to enter a play is Friday, November 17, 2017. The top three plays will have two working sessions with theatre professionals on January 13 and 21, 2018 for revisions and a public reading with presentation of awards on January 25, 2018.
